Valentines Day

Posted on: February 2, 2025

Valentine’s Day traces its roots to Lupercalia, a mid-February Roman fertility festival, and the Christian tradition of honoring Saint Valentine, a third-century martyr. By the Middle Ages, thanks in part to writings by Geoffrey Chaucer, the day became firmly associated with romantic love. Over centuries, February 14 evolved into an occasion for exchanging tokens of affection—initially handwritten notes, later mass-produced cards—spreading from Europe to North America and around the globe. Today, Valentine’s Day is celebrated worldwide as a moment to express love and affection through gifts, cards, and acts of kindness.
